To make things even simpler than Morpheus’ point, it all boils down to price-discrimination (or the lack thereof).

In Star Child’s example, the man would be just as willing (if not moreso – STDs after all) to sleep with Angelique that night as he would be with Desiree.

Not so with AFBB, where the girl makes the beta jump to hoops and wait until she puts out, even though she had put out for the alpha without any such hurdles.
