Why does it have to be either/or? Both is entirely possible. Frankly, if you’re not getting both, it’s not a relationship you’re going to be happy in for very long.

I don’t think the OP is being unreasonable. This guy doesn’t sound like a good bet. The lack of effort is possibly the smallest piece of it. The jealousy and not-so-nice behavior are the real clinchers here. Still, both men and women need to feel wanted and appreciated, so I can understand her frustration.
