Just because you’re low on the attractiveness scale and therefore must mate with others of “equal” low attractiveness does NOT then translate into “happiness” a la Shrek style. Indeed, if anything, it’s a recipe for disaster, as the constant reminder not just of what you’ve wound up with but how they don’t let you forget where you fall on the scale, is in my view at the heart of A LOT of the problems roiling in Black America (NOT racism, believe it or not). It’s why, for example, Black Men are so apt to cheat on their Women, because of this. It’s why, for another, that STDs, among both Black Men and Black Women, is so very high. And it’s why Black relationships are so fraught with tension and acrimony and strife, even violence (on both sides, mind you! It ain’t just the Menz, as Stephen A. Smith has so rightly reminded us) to such a degree that it utterly shocks Whites when faced with it – one lady blogger who is known in these parts a few years back, once said that she had no idea things were this fraught between Black Men and Black Women. She is by no means alone.

No “2” wants to be mated with another “2”, at least not if they can help it.
